“Traditions and the Lord’s Supper” (1 Corinthians 11):

Exploring Women's Conduct at Eucharist/ Time 0:00Jared led a Bible study session on 1st Corinthians, Chapter 11, focusing on the conduct of women at the Eucharist. He emphasized the importance of understanding and applying the teachings from the Scripture and the need to serve others' will. The discussion centered around the concept of head coverings for women, with Jared explaining that a woman's head should be covered as a symbol of authority, as per the teachings of the Bible. He also highlighted the interconnectedness of men and women and the role of God in their lives. The session ended with a call for self-reflection on the appropriateness of women praying with their heads uncovered.

Oral Tradition and Church Unity/ Time 4:06Jared discussed the importance of remembering and obeying the traditions passed down from the apostle, emphasizing the significance of oral tradition alongside written instructions. He criticized the Corinthians for their divisions and factions when they came together as a church, which he believed revealed the world rather than heaven. However, he noted that God's approved faithful were shown to be trustworthy amidst this ungodly disorder.

Agape Meal and the Lord's Supper/ Time 8:45Jared discussed the significance of the agape meal in the context of the Lord's Supper. He explained that the agape meal, held before or after the Lord's Supper, was intended to unify the community in Christ and provide an opportunity to serve the poor. However, the Corinthians' experience of drunkenness and gluttony during the agape meal was seen as a manifestation of self-love rather than God's agape love. Jared also discussed the transmission of the holy tradition, emphasizing the importance of remembrance in the Eucharist, which involves participation in Christ's human nature. He concluded by explaining that the term Eucharist means to give thanks, and during communion, they give thanks, remember Christ, and express gratitude.

Eucharist Significance and Preparation Discussed/ Time 13:52Jared discussed the significance of the Eucharist in the context of the Old Testament and the New Testament. He explained that the Jews were permitted to eat meat but not blood, as life is in the blood and it belongs to God. He also discussed the importance of examining oneself before receiving the Eucharist, confessing sins, and being reconciled with others. Jared emphasized the power of the body and blood of Christ communicated through the Eucharist and the potential consequences of wilful disregard. He also touched on the evolution of the agape meal, which was initially a meal of love and connected to the Eucharist but now involves fasting in preparation. Jared ended the conversation by announcing the next topic of discussion, spiritual gifts in 1st Corinthians, Chapter 12.

In Christ, love ❤️ Jared W Campbell
