The Purpose of Trials? Wisdom of Trials? How We Respond to Trials is Important? (James 1:2-11)

Good morning. Great is His faithfulness.

"TOUGH TIMES BUILD CHARACTER"

"Character is both developed and revealed by tests, and all of life is a test."

Rick Warren

James 1:1-4: "The Purpose of Trials"

James 1:2: " My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,"

"TRIALS"- Is the world's oppression, and also take place by God's permission- these trials test the genuineness of our faith to Him. The issue isn't the trials themselves, but how we respond to these trials and circumstances. If our trials are properly received with patience and self control it reveals to us where our hearts are at. Trails are food for faith, which mus grow or die. The godly reaction to these trials is with joy and perseverance. Yes, unkind circumstances come from the evil one, but to get angry at tgese circumstances is to get mad at God, who permits them.

An old Army Sergeant once said to me, "The emotions we feel are normal, but sometimes it's how we respond to those emotions that aren't always normal." - what great wisdom and how he explained our trials through "COMBAT STRESS AND PTSD."

James 1:5-11- "Wisdom for Trials"

James 1:5:"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

"WISDOM"- in Greek means the practical and spiritual knowledge for a skilled living, and comes to those who "ASK OF GOD", who pray to Him. It's clear James loved God's law, but he is telling us that faith is not found in rules, as with the Pharisees believed, but instead true faith is found in a relationship with our Creator.

See vv. 6-8: prayer is only effective when we do it "IN FAITH, WITH NO DOUBTING (see v. 6). We must live in stable and not unstable, don't be double minded- When we lack faith and confidence in both God and ourselves we become unstable and full of double mindedness.

see vv. 9-11: It's better to live a "LOWLY" life with every little than be a person who considered "THE RICH. The High rich life leads to more temptations causing one to become selfish and greedy. A life of being "LOWLY"- keeps us humble a having a life of humility.

"Character is what you are in the dark."

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;
