Greek word of the day- ἵλεως híleōs, hil'-eh-oce; perhaps from the alternate form of G138; cheerful (as attractive), i.e. propitious; adverbially (by Hebraism) God be gracious!, i.e. (in averting some calamity) far be it:—be it far, merciful.
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds[fn] I will remember no more.”[fn]

Here St. Paul gives us one of the Clearest NT passages depicting the Second Coming of Christ. Let's look at the first century document - "THE DIDACHE" (see Chapter 16- http://www.orthodox.cn/patristics/apostolicfathers/didache_en.htm) - in the DIDACHE it list three signs concerning our Lord's Return- 1. "The sign spread out in the heavens "- Christ in His Hosts- 2. "The sign of the Trumpet, - 3. "The Resurrection of the dead."- Compare Revelation 1:10- with v. 16 here in 1 Thessalonians 4:23-18. Revelation 1:10: "I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet,

Here we see Christ singling out Simon Peter, and according to commentary of the Orthodox Study Bible, we see a twofold significance (1): Simon Peter was the leader among the disciples, and so he had to be the first to confess his "LOVE" for Christ our Risen Lord. (2): Peter also previously had denied Christ three times ( John 18:17- vv. 25-27-https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2018%3A17-27&version=NKJV) and we see here how Christ restores Peter with His threefold confession of love.
Psalm 24(25)- according to many different commentaries Psalm 24(25)- is a priestly intercession by the Lord Jesus Christ on behalf of His Church, which is the Israel of God (checkout v. 22- also Galatians 6:16).
Galatians 6:16: "16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God."
Note the differences between my study Bible and the online link version see v. 16- from my Bible it says "Look upon me and have mercy on me, For I am only- begotten and poor." Online version says "Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me,
For I am [e]desolate and afflicted.
Hebrews 7:25: "Therefore He is also able to save [a]to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. This was another source that goes along with our look into Psalm 24(25)- see my teaching video for better understanding.

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
