“Reign of Sin, Reign of Grace” - “A Storm Calmed” - (Romans 5:10-17 - Matthew 8:23-27)

Good morning. Great is His faithfulness.

Greek word of the day- ἐκριζόω ekrizóō, ek-rid-zo'-o; from G1537 and G4492; to uproot:—pluck up by the root, root up.

So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

Romans 5:10-17- "Reign of Sin, Reign of Grace"

See and take a look at v. 10: All of those who accept and appropriate Christ's love are "RECONCILED TO GOD." We are also reconciled and restored to peace and communion with our Lord. Even when we were still rebellious "ENEMIES" of God, it was God who never kept working in His love to restore us.

See and take a look at v. 12- With Adam and Eve, it was sin that came first, and it led to death. This death then "SPREAD TO ALL MEN"- we all inherited sin, and in our mortal state we all sin. So mankind suffers Adam's "original sin"- The Orthodox teachings reject all teachings that would place guilt to all of mankind for Adam's "original sin"- We do however suffer the consequences of other's sins, but we also carry the guilt for own sins.

See v. 13- "UNTIL THE LAW" came, "SIN" was working freely in the world.

See v. 14- After "ADAM"- our sin could not be in the "LIKENESS" of Adam's sin, because it was Adam's sin that brought morality to our race. The law of sin and death "REIGNED" because man continued to sin and further rebelled against God. Adam is seen as a "TYPE"- prefiguring, foreshadowing of Christ Who is the Head of all humanity. Adam being the first man, caused death to reign in the human race- Christ as the New Perfect Man, Christ brings eternal life to all of humanity.

See vv. 15-17- By the "GRACE" of Christ even Adam's sin is covered, and also the sins of the entire world is also covered. See video for further discussion.

Matthew 8:23-27- "A Storm Calmed"

This passage is all about faith. Christ will help to calm all storms that arise in our lives.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
