See vv. 1-3: Lots of commentary points to this as ironic, Israel was never entirely committed to the Lord. Yet due to the faithfulness of patriarchs and prophets, Israel can be referred to as faithful. Ultimately, this passage s depicting God's relationship with all the nations. Yes they were taken over by their enemies, God redeemed them through "THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL"- who is Christ.
See- v. 10: "CHETTIM": כִּתִּי Kittîy, kit-tee'; or כִּתִּיִּי Kittîyîy; patrial from an unused name denoting Cyprus (only in the plural); a Kittite or Cypriote; hence, an islander in general, i.e. the Greeks or Romans on the shores opposite Palestine:—Chittim, Kittim. Is - "CYPRUS" and other Greek "ISLANDS"; "KEDAR" is a region in northern Arabia.
See v. 13: Let's look at both the old and new covenant, and we will se how the problems are the same:
See v. 23: "BAAL": was a idol- god for the neighboring nations around Israel. And even the unfaithful Jews became his "DISCIPLES"- The commentary says- "Following this or any false god leads to death, "A COMMON BURIAL PLACE" (v. 23).
See v. 36: "REPEATED YOUR WAYS"- שָׁנָה shânâh, shaw-naw'; a primitive root; to fold, i.e. duplicate (literally or figuratively); by implication, to transmute (transitive or intransitive):—do (speak, strike) again, alter, double, (be given to) change, disguise, (be) diverse, pervert, prefer, repeat, return, do the second time. - it means "REDOUBLE YOUR PATH"- It's clear when we sin, we usually do the same things over and over again."

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,
