v.1: The council is the Jewish Sanhedrin, it was known as the highest Jewish governing body.
v. 2: Ananias was high priest during AD 47-59. We see in scripture he was a hard and violent man and was later assassinated by his own people at the start of the Jewish and Roman war in AD 70. According to St. John Chrysostom he calls the strike on Paul "SHAMELESS" and without cause.
vv. 3-5: Here Paul accuses Ananias of the ultimate hypocrisy: The hypocrisy was violating the law while posing as one who judged according to the Law. Paul still respected the position of the High priest regardless of the hypocrisy.
v. 6: Paul intentionally divides the council between the Sadducee's and the Pharisees- by bringing up the RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD.
v. 8: According to St. John Chrysostom- THE PHARISEES CONFESS BOTH: the word both is used when three signs are mentioned? St. John Chrysostom says angel and spirit refers to one entity or concept. So both refers to belief in the Resurrection and a belief in a realm of angels and spirits.
v. 11: Paul is receiving comfort from the Lord when he is about face a plot on his life (see v. 12-16- "The murder plot against Paul). Here we see a prophecy of both Paul's preaching and also his death a Rome- WITNESS can also refer to one's martyrdom for Christ's name.

v. 16: The first LITTLE WHILE- first is Christ's arrest, death, and burial. Secomd is His time in the Tomb until His Resurrection.
v. 21: NO LONGER REMEMBERS - the faithful shouid not forget Christ Passion on the Cross, anymore than a woman "forgets" labor. We are taught to see these sufferings in the light of the victory of Christ Resurrection, and this helps shape our perception of sufferings. Christ victory allows us to rejoice in ANGUISH be of the greater good that comes from His death. (Romans 5:3-5- Philippians 3:10).
Heading back to school soon to prepare myself for Seminary school.
