Our Daily Bread: We are Guardians of the Wall (The Church): Reading/Thoughts- Song of Songs 5:1-16

Shalom,

Good Monday morning it’s July 12, 2021, I pray all is well: In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

Glory to You, our God, glory to You! Heavenly King, Comforter, the Spirit of Truth, present in all places and filling all things, the treasury of blessings and Giver of life: come and abide in us. Cleanse us from all impurity and save our souls, gracious Lord.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (3) Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen! All-holy Trinity, have mercy on us. Lord, forgive our sins. Master, pardon our transgressions. Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for the glory of Your name. Lord have Mercy. (3) Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen!

“One day I hope I’m part of Marriage Supper of the Lamb, and I’m enjoying my eternal peace with you all in Heaven; peace to you all.”

Song of Songs 5:1-16

5:1 Milk and Honey the two together signify an overabundance of delights in the Promised Land (Exodus 3:8, Exodus 17, Exodus 13:5, Leviticus 20:24, Joshua 5:6, Jeremiah 11:5, Jeremiah 39:22; and Ezekiel 20:6-15). Bread and wine is the image of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb (Revelation 19:9) and the Holy Eucharist, along with the Church, friends and brothers are invited to eat and drink one day with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I have seen videos where people have claimed to die and see both Heaven and Hell. One takeaway I had from one video is that a person mentioned smelling lots of bread and Honey in Heaven, streets made of Gold, interesting.

5:2: The Bridegroom knocks at the door of the heart when He says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20). Christ our God will only enter if He is invited, and if we delay he departs from us until we are more mature.

5:3: The Lord washed the feet of His disciples (John 13:5) Yeshua (Jesus) did this after He had finished up preaching according to (John 15:5) Jesus, was saying not even the greatest of Saints couldn’t keep free without sin without Him, the Help Christ brings to us.

5:4-5:5: The Bride arose to open the door for her beloved is said to be a powerful image of the Church working together with God; to do His will. (1 Corinthians 3:9) Saint Paul States “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building”.

5:6: I did not find him………. Is a reminder from (Matthew 16:15-17) that the Bridegroom cannot be found unless He chooses to reveal Himself.

5:7: The Guards of the wall is referring to Apostles, Preachers, Priests and Watchmen; anyone who proclaims the word of God. We are called to guard the Church because we are the keepers of the faith, and we need to continue to teach the true doctrine of Christ. And we need to protect the city from charlatans (Frauds), Christ-peddlers (False Prophets), heretics, and schismatics: the veil remains on those who know only the Mosaic Law (2 Corinthians 3:14-18).

5:10-16: I’m not good at summarizing poetic language but according to my Study Bible. The Bride is extolling the beauty and the grace of her beloved. The word are being applied to Christ, the Bridegroom of the Church, He is: (1) a shining...light meaning He is light of the world (John 8:12); (2) Chosen from countless thousandths “Therefore, people shall give thanks to you Forever and unto ages of ages (Psalm 44:18). (3) Like refined gold “on His head a golden crown” (Revelation 14:14)........ Seen with eyes….like….doves: “The eyes of the LORD are in every place” (Proverbs 15:3); and also revealed with glorious cheeks and lips. “His voice as the sound of many waters” (Revelation 1:15); beautiful in the hands and stomach: “Then Yeshua (Jesus) put on His hand and touched him” (Matthew 8:3); strong of legs and feet: “His feet were like fine brass” (Revelation 1:15); altogether desirable: “more beautiful than the sons of men” (Psalm 44:3).

Today’s Message:

“We are all guardians and protectors of the Church. It’s our duty to be that beacon of light that shines as hope for all those in need. As guardians and protectors we can’t be passive followers meaning half in and half out, but rather be all in for Him, Christ our God!” - Jared W. Campbell

Closing the Lord’s Prayer:

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

God Bless,
