Morning Reflection: Overcoming Tough Times - "The Lessons of Adversity" …
Good morning … Great is His faithfulness
“OVERCOMING TOUGH TIMES”
CHAPTER 5 – “THE LESSONS OF ADVERSITY”
“He heals the brokenhearted and He binds up all their wounds …”
PSALM 146 (147):3
“Our Creator is the God of the broken, and He heals us all and only He is the One who make straight what is crooked, find what is truly lost, and to put sight into those who were truly blind, but now see by the removing of the scales from the eyes, beautiful”
Psalm 32:8
“I will give you understanding, and I will teach you in the way you should walk; I will fix My eyes on you …
“He is Wisdom and Understanding, for He is the Door to everlasting … He will teach us all the way in which we should all walk, and His eyes will be forever fixed on His chosen ones, His holy ones, we are all children of the Most High no matter our differences we are all one in Him” …
Proverbs 4:1-8: Obedient thinking –
What is Obedient thinking, it’s thinking that is firmly planted in the heart, it guards but does not forget, disregard, or forsake the commandments of Wisdom – (vv. 5, 6 … This type of thinking also loves, secures, and honors His commandments – (vv. 6, 7) … In this case, Wisdom, in turn, cleaves to – (v. 6), keeps – (v.6), exalts – (v. 7), and embraces – (v. 7) His children … By this, He puts a crown of graces and delight on their heads – (v. 8) …
Matthew 7:24-25
Build on the Rock
24 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
“Hearing the gospel and only being a hearer of spiritual words isn’t enough … Salvation is not based off hearing alone; nor on faith alone, but we must also do the things, the teachings that were spoken by Christ – (read James 2:20-24) – Faith like Abraham …
James 3:13-18 – Godly Counsel – Read during video lesson …
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and [a]self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
James has hard time and a bit leery on counseling others, what is offered as wisdom can be based on pride and other sinful passions … Self – Centered faith will manifest itself in self-centered works, in this case “helping others” … True wisdom comes from God and proves itself by action – (v. 13) … Sensual – (v. 15; Greek psychike) this means unspiritual, not possessing the spirit of God …
“The book of James is a great read into what is truly means to serve God with the whole package, James does a great job back in James Chapter 2 giving us great insight into the faith of Abraham and what that faith should indeed look like and be acted upon …”
