1st Reading - Isaiah 9:9-10:4 - read from my Orthodox Study Bible see my video for the reading

The prophet Isaiah warns of God's judgement against the PRIDE AND ARROGANCE (See Isaiah 9:8); its ELDER and PROPHET WHO TEACHES LAWLESSNESS- (see Isaiah 9:14-15); it's self destruction through civil conflicts - (see also Isaiah 9:18-20); and its judicial leaders - (Isaiah 10:1-2). This section is laid out in four stanzas that is separated by the refrain repeated here in Isaiah 9:11, 16, 20, and Isaiah 10:4: "HIS ANGER IS NOT TURNED AWAY."

The Flood- The Lord God made Noah righteous through faith, by which pleased God.

Hebrews 11:6-7

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
