1 Corinthians 14:26
How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
First Reading is from ACTS 14:5-19
My reflection from ACTS 14:5-19- is this we see in v. 5 how the inner resistance of repentance was extremely strong in the people who Paul and Barnabas were ministering to, that they had no issues denying the wonders of God (see v. 3), and destroying His messengers just avoid the inward changes of themselves. They decided to reject repentance and rejected the idea of entering into a relationship with their Creator. Last night's reflection spoke about Jesus being rejected in His hometown of Nazareth because they too rejected entering into a relationship with their Creator because they believed being the chosen seed of Abraham they had No Spiritual debt- meaning Spiritual death being unrepentant and choosing a life of wickedness rather than righteousness in God.
Second Reading is from John 7:14-30
John 7:17: If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whetherI speak on My own authority.
The desire to know and follow God's will is the key to understanding. Spiritual blindness from the commentary of the Orthodox Study Bible comes from the unwillingness to know God or to recognize His authority. Those who are truly sent by God to teach, seek the glory of God and those who send themselves seek their own glory and not the glory of God.
Third reading is from Psalm 73(74)
This is a prophecy of understanding. Understanding that all of human history is Incarnational in nature. Orthodox Study Bible commentary states this, "all of human history may be called, the history of the incarnation of the Word (Christ)."
"Rid yourselves of wickedness: the anger, the envy, and the hatred which have arisen in your hearts, without provocation, against Me. Then you will have no difficulty in realizing that My words are actually those of God. As it is, these passions darken your understanding and distort sound judgement. If you remove these passions, you will no longer be afflicted in this way."
