Hebrews 10:32-39

32 But recall the former days in which, after you were [a]illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: 33 partly while you were made a spectacle both by reproaches and tribulations, and partly while you became companions of those who were so treated; 34 for you had compassion on [b]me in my chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your [c]goods, knowing that you have a better and an enduring possession for yourselves [d]in heaven. 35 Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:

37 “For yet a little while,And He[e] who is coming will come and will not[f]tarry.38 Now the[g] just shall live by faith;But if anyone draws back,My soul has no pleasure in him.”

39 But we are not of those who draw back to [h]perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

CONTINUE TO PERSERVE

Illuminated: φωτίζω phōtízō, fo-tid'-zo; from G5457; to shed rays, i.e. to shine or (transitively) to brighten up (literally or figuratively):—enlighten, illuminate, (bring to, give) light, make to see. See v. 32.

Continue to endure doing the WILL OF GOD ensures we will receive the promise if we believe in the saving of the soul, and not fall into perdition. See vv. 35-36.

See vv.37-38 the Lord will not delay meaning He's coming quickly keep living by faith and do not fall away or the Lord will have no pleasure in us.

Tarry: χρονίζω chronízō, khron-id'-zo; from G5550; to take time, i.e. linger:—delay, tarry.

Perdition: ἀπώλεια apṓleia, ap-o'-li-a; from a presumed derivative of G622; ruin or loss (physical, spiritual or eternal):—damnable(-nation), destruction, die, perdition, X perish, pernicious ways, waste.

Matthew the Tax Collector Mark 2:13-17 see also Luke 5:27-32

13 Then He went out again by the sea; and all the multitude came to Him, and He taught them. 14 As He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me.” So he arose and followed Him.

15 Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him. 16 And when the scribes [a]and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, “How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?”

17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, [b]to repentance.” - (See also Matthew 9:9-13, see video for the reading.

Matthew- also Levi seen in Mark 2:14- Roman overlords were assigned to specific Jewish tax collectors, and who were free to collect extra revenues for their own profit. They collaborated with Roman Occupiers, their fraud, and their corruption caused the Jews to hate them and see them as unclean- (see Matthew 11:19, I read in the video). Jesus dinning with them and also accepting a tax collector-(Follow Me) offends the Pharisees, Yet Christ has a simple defense. He goes where the need of the PHYSICIAN is the greatest. Christ quotes Hosea 6:6 "I desire mercy not sacrifice" -(v. 13; Hosea 6:6), Christ shows us that mercy is the highest priority and not sacrifice, I also read from Psalm 50 (51).

"Our walk with God requires a relationship that is living. This relationship is built on both mercy and the knowledge of God meaning understanding. Our journey takes discipline, obedience, self denial and struggle. Stay the path do good shun evil, we overcome evil by good."

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
