1Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
Acts 8:14-25- "The Samaritan Pentecost"
vv. 22-24- is what stood out to me and other portions of scripture are pretty self explanatory.
Acts 8:22-24
22 Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you. 23 For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”
24 Then Simon answered and said, “Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.”
We see in vv.22-24- That FAITH must be accompanied with a total change of one's life, heart and mind or it's all considered WORTHLESS. Simon here in scripture believed on a certain level see v. 13, but he was not justified, because he was POISONED BY BITTERNESS AND BOUND BY INIQUITY.
John 6:35-39- Jesus is the Bread of life
MY OWN WILL see v. 38- Christ has two natures, He has two wills- divine and human will. The Sixth Ecumenical Council, which was held in Constantinople (AD 680-681), proclaimed these two wills of Christ do not work in contrary to one another, but rather "His human will follows, not resisting nor reluctant, but subject to His divinity and to His omnipotent will." See also John 1:14 and John 5:30.
