Evening Reading & Reflection: Psalm 142(143): “Be “Earnest”- “Passionate in Prayer… See Notes

Good evening. Great is His faithfulness.

PSALM 142(143)-

Psalm 142(143) is teaching us about God's righteousness ( vv. 1-11), this is in contrast to man's ineffective efforts to attain righteousness based on the law (see v. 2). "THE ENEMY"(v. 3)- is the devil, and the devil overcomes my feeble efforts at righteousness (see vv. 3-5). But we receive the gift of God's righteousness through faith, the Holy Spirit "GUIDES ME IN THE LAND OF UPRIGHTNESS-(v. 10). We can see that King David knew God's righteousness through faith, and so do all who walk by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

"SUPPLICATION(s)"- In Hebrew: תַּחֲנוּן tachănûwn, takh-an-oon'; or (feminine) תַּחֲנוּנָה tachănûwnâh; from H2603; "earnest prayer:"—intreaty, supplication.

Another meaning for earnest is also passionate. King David teaches us that being "EARNEST" in prayer with passion and love for your Creator accomplishes more than turning our backs on the Lord. In this Psalm, King David describes beautifully the struggles of spiritual warfare, and we win that battle through Christ, and a earnest passionate cry out to the Lord.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.”
