DAY13:MATTER OF TIME (Matthew 9:18-26) I Shared my Personal Story,Jesus Saved me in a Matter of Time

Welcome back. Great is His faithfulness.

Matthew 9:18-26

18 While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live.” 19 So Jesus arose and followed him, and so did His disciples.

20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. 21 For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, “Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.”And the woman was made well from that hour.

23 When Jesus came into the ruler’s house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.”And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.

According to the commentary of the Orthodox Study Bible- Authority of life and death is in the hand of God alone (Deuteronomy 32:39; 1 Kingdoms 2:6. Being in one essence with the Father, Jesus has this authority (John 5:21). The healing of this woman demonstrates Christ's power to cleanse and heal - (Matthew 8:1-4- The Leper cleasnsed). In the OT, hemorrhage caused ceremonial defilement, imposing religious and social restrictions, for contact with blood strictly prohibited-(Leviticus 15:25). This suffering woman, accounting herself unclean, she approaches Jesus secretly and with great faith. In v. 22, Jesus brings her good cheer because of her faith; He corrects her thinking, for neither could she hide her touch from Him, nor she excluded from Him because of her illness; and exhibits her faith to all, so that they might imitate her.

Jarius' name was not mentioned in Matthew but is mentioned both in Mark 5:21-43, and in Luke 8:40-56. Jarius' daughters age was only mentioned in Luke 8:42:  for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.

But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. The little girl was twelve and the woman had the flow of blood hemorrhaging was for twelve years. There is a parallel, in Mathew 9:22; Jesus call her daughter, to show the woman both humility and respect, but to also strengthen Jarius whose twelve year old daughter just died. Jesus refers to the woman as daughter to strengthen the faith of Jarius that is little girl would indeed live. In a matter of time Jesus healed three people that day, the woman, the little girl and Jarius, what a beautiful thing is to have faith, because faith is truly a beautiful thing to have.

Prayer Focus from the Devotional

Thank God for His presence in the midst of suffering. Thank Him that He promises to be with you, holding your hand and helping you endure all the way to heaven. Ask Him for the things that are heavy on your heart; He knows what you want already, but He invites you to be raw, real, and honest with Him prayer. And then ask Him to grow your faith and ability to wait on His timing.

See my video for the moving forward questions because I told my personal story because it fit today's reflection.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
