4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
We see in v. 4: The Greek word for “LIFE”: It means that God gives the absolute fulness of life, both essential and ethical, which belongs to God, and through him both to the Holy Trinity "logos" (WAS THE WORD, SEE JOHN 1:1) and to Christ in whom the "logos" put on human nature
The Greek word of “LIGHT”: God is light because light is extremely delicate, subtle, pure, and brilliant quality. The Lord provides truth and its knowledge along with spiritual purity, and this purity is exposed to all, openly and publicly. God’s light gives us both reason and mind, and His light gives us the power of understanding along with both moral and spiritual truth.
