DAY 70: "FAR BE IT FROM ME"- (1 Samuel 12:23) "It All Starts with God's Mercy!!!"

DAY 70: "FAR BE IT FROM ME" 1 Samuel 12:23 Moreover, as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: God's Imperfect People: Devotional Discussion - Jared led a devotional discussion focusing on the reading from first Samuel, chapter 12, verse 23. He highlighted the idea that despite the imperfections and sins of God's people, they are still His. He reminded that just as Jesus spent his time with the spiritually needy, we may also be asked to do the same. The session ended with a reflection on the passage and an invitation for a deeper exploration of some of these verses. God's Righteousness, Physician's Mercy: Jared's Sermon Summary Jared discussed parts of Samuel's sermon and Jesus' interaction with Matthew. He explained that in Samuel's sermon, he was encouraging the people to continue in God's righteousness for the monarchy to work. In Jesus' interaction, he saw a man named Matthew, a tax collector, and invited him to follow him, which caused opposition from the Pharisees. Jesus defended his actions by stating that those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick do. He also quoted the Old Testament, saying he desired mercy and not sacrifice. Mercy in Hosea and Psalms: Discussion with Jared- time 8:05 Jared discussed the concept of mercy in relation to religious texts, specifically Hosea and Psalms. He emphasized God's desire for mercy over sacrifices and highlighted the importance of accepting God's grace. Jared also touched upon the idea of falling short and the need for mercy in our interactions with others. The discussion concluded with a reminder to continue to walk in God's mercy. Jesus, Matthew, and Societal Judgment - time 10:16 Jared led a discussion on a biblical scene where Jesus dines with Matthew, a tax collector, against societal norms. The conversation delved into themes of mercy, sacrifice, and societal judgment. Towards the end, Jared referred to a future dinner party, implying a celebration was being planned. The details of this party remained unclear. Mercy, Spiritual Life, and Kingdom of Heaven - time 18:41 Jared emphasized the importance of mercy, both in the biblical story of Samuel and in the spiritual life of believers. He led a prayer invoking the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, urging listeners to be doers of God's word and to seek a relationship with Him. Jared stressed that a life in the spirit means seeking the kingdom of heaven first and allowing everything else to be added. Jared ended by announcing a Bible reading and prayer session in the evening, though his attendance was uncertain due to schoolwork.
