2:14-17: OUR TRIUMPH IN CHRIST-(v. 14), taken in an ancient Roman context, suggests a magnificent picture of unwilling captive soldiers paraded before the victorious commander's chariot while fragrant flowers are strewn along the way in celebration: The victor is Christ; the captives are the powers of darkness; His FRAGRANCE-(v. 15) is the apostolic ministry, especially its preaching-(v. 17): Christians are the winning force who triumph through the hearing of THE WORD OF GOD-(v. 17) and lead the great procession of thanksgiving LEADING TO LIFE-(v. 16):


Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
