DAY:4- LOVE IS KIND - (1 Corinthians 13:4-13) “My Confession is in the Video…”

Good evening. Welcome back. Great is His faithfulness.

1 Corinthians 13:4-13

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [a]puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [b]thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is [c]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

What is love and how do we know if we are acting in love? Verse 4 provides the specifics on what love is. Love SUFFERS LONG, and is patient- I Thessalonians 5:14. Love is kind, and gentle even to those who are hurt, and love does not envy, and is not jealous of what others have. It does not parade itself and does not pit itself on display. Love is not puffed up, meaning arrogant or proud. Love does not act rudely, brashly or even mean spirited and does insult others. Love does not seek its own way, meaning don't act pushy, and love is not provoked or angered p, and it thinks no evil, and does not keep score on others. Love does not rejoice in iniquity, meaning it takes no pleasure when others fall into sin. Love rejoices in the truth, and love is joyful when righteousness prevails, love bears all things, and it handles the burdensome. Love believes in all things, love trusts God no matter what, and love hopes in all things, love keeps looking up, and love will never despair. Love endure all things, "puts up with everything" (JohnChr), love does not wear out, love never fails. The only thing love cannot do is fail (1 Corinthians 16:14).

vv. 8-13; talk about the gifts of the Spirit, they are wonderful and beautiful, but they are also temporary and incomplete. They are for this age in which we live, while we are "children" - (see v. 11). Love continues into the age that is to come. It is eternal, complete as well as fulfilling. Verse 11 this passage differentiate between being dependent on God, or childlike -( see Matthew 18:3, and being childish or immature.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
