Good morning … Great is His faithfulness …
DAY: 28 – PRESENCE, PART 1
Jesus Is Lord of the Sabbath
23 Now it happened that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath; and as they went His disciples began to pluck the heads of grain. 24 And the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not lawful on the Sabbath?”
(Mark 2:23-24)
25 But He said to them, “Have you never read what David did when he was in need and hungry, he and those with him: 26 how he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests, and also gave some to those who were with him?”
27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 Therefore the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath.”
(Mark 2:25-28)
The Pharisees stood in the presence of our Lord and still rejected Him and His teachings … I wonder what it must have felt like to stand in the presence of our Lord, it seems sometimes unreal, but real at the same time … For me I do struggle not with my faith or the belief of God, but I struggle with understanding, I know I’ve been called by Him, but there are days I lack full understanding … I finally understand what the disciples must have felt not always having the full understanding, but for the Pharisees, I have a harder time trying to understand them, they were so rigid in their ways it’s difficult for me to understand how people can have such lack of compassion it truly blows me away … Tonight I want to focus on how we can have the same compassion as Jesus did, and how we can fully imitate His teachings with proficient outcomes, my mission, my calling is to save souls, teach sinner His ways so the ungodly can turn back to Him …
Matthew 25:35: for I was hungry, and you gave Me food; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you took Me in; 36 I was naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
What’s more valuable life or bread??? Both are valuable life is life, and bread sustains life this is also true … Jesus teaches us in Matthew 4:4: But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” David was on the run from King Saul and he and some of his loyal men were hiding out in caves, David decided to enter the House of God to ask for showbread knowing it was only lawful for the priest to eat … Did you think David asked the same question which is more valuable life or bread … Here we see a prophetic example, King David on the run and making sure to sat hidden and out of sight is prefiguring Christ and His disciples who had to stay hidden from the prince of this world, - (Satan) …
1 Kingdoms 21 (1 Samuel 21) – The priest had compassion on David and His men, but only out of holy fear he questions their righteousness and purity before he handed over the bread to David, because it was only reserved for the priests … The bread of the presence was a prefiguration, which we just discussed, it prefigured the Eucharist, the Body of Christ … Just like David was required to be holy, the same for us now each time we approach Communion must be prepared through prayer, fasting, and confession, so indeed, the holy things are for the holy …
Moving Forward:
1: With all its pomp and circumstance, do you find talk of the tabernacle interesting or boring, and why??? The question was interesting, sometimes I find the tabernacle talk boring when I’m doing my studies … Some of it is hard to understand being the fact that I’m considered a Gentile … There are other times I find it very interesting because it’s very spiritual and there they did lots of spiritual cleansing, best advice try to find a way to make your studies in the Bible fun as well as challenging …
2: Imagine the room where God’s presence dwelled … Imagine approaching the cloud or pillar of fire … How would standing in His presence, in that warm and quiet place, affect the way you view the requirements of the Law??? That would change a lot for me, I sometimes wonder what like is to stand in His presence like that with the cloud and pillar of fire, sounds amazing … In a way we experience the pillar of fire, it’s that feeling of the Holy Spirit especially when we are in that moment … Therefore, I enjoy my studies and videos it gives a chance to be in His presence when I know He is working through me to deliver the Message He wants delivered …
3: Now imagine walking with Jesus … Imagine the unrestricted access, the casual conservation, and the warmth of His personality … That’s all … just imagine … I walk with Jesus daily, and I can witness to His greatness and the internal peace I feel daily, I know it’s going to be an eternal and everlasting … My daily walk with Jesus has truly saved me from myself, because I was my own worse enemy, my faith has made me well …
