Nihilism- the rejection of all religious and moral principles, in the belief that life is meaningless.
2 Timothy 3:1-9
Moral Decline in the Last Days
3 But know this, that in the last days [a]perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, [b]unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
What a great look into the LAST DAYS, the age of nihilism is truly upon us. According to the commentary of the Orthodox Study Bible- "While technically we have been in the LAST DAYS since Christ walked the earth, the Church has seen this and other warnings as a reference to the days just before His Second Coming." In this passage it describes a great decay in morals, and this decay will also infiltrate the Church - ( see v. 5). In the LAST DAYS these people like Cain's city (Genesis 4:16-24) we reject law and morals out of love of self and love of pleasure. (Other examples of nihilism in the Bible- Sodom and Gomorrah, the Days of Noah).
See v. 5: "HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS BUT DENYING ITS POWER. AND FROM SUCH PEOPLE TURN AWAY!"
Sounds like these are false teachers and prophets. Sounds like those who go through motions and their hearts are actually far from God. The world and society we are heading into we will see more of this, and this will start infiltrating our Churches at a rapid speed.
