DAY 112: "BRINGING PEOPLE TO JESUS" (John 1:41)- "Small Clip from The Chosen"

Good morning and good day to all my brothers and sisters in Christ.

"Bringing Others to Jesus"

John 1:41:

He first found his brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the [a]Messiah” (which is translated to Christ).

Summary:

Jared initiated the meeting with a spiritual discussion, highlighting the role of Andrew in bringing people to Jesus. He compared their role to fishers of men, emphasizing that their task is to catch and Christ cleans. Jared then shared a clip from their study featuring an ambiguous discussion about a figure called the Messiah. He also led a discussion on a Biblical passage from John, chapter 6, verses 5 through 9, where Jesus tested Philip's faith. Jared also discussed the story of Elisha feeding 100 men with 20 loaves of barley bread and newly ripened grain in 2 Kings, chapter 4, verses 42 through 44, as an example of faith. Jared encouraged viewers to watch 'The Chosen', a series that helps connect the Bible and its characters.

Fishers of Men: Bringing People to Jesus 0:00

Jared started the meeting with a spiritual talk, reading from John, chapter one, verse 41, and a two-minute clip from the chosen. He then led the group in prayer before diving into a deeper study. Jared highlighted the role of Andrew in bringing people to Jesus, noting that Andrew's job was not to transform people into Christians or convict them of their sins but to bring them to Jesus. He emphasized that their task is to catch and Christ cleans, likening their role to that of fishers of men. Lastly, Jared mentioned that he had posted a video on YouTube for the evening study.

Debating the Mysterious Messiah 4:36

Jared shared a clip from their study featuring an animated discussion about a figure called the Messiah. The conversation was ambiguous, with multiple participants expressing excitement and confusion equally. The Messiah was described as a potentially significant figure, capable of impacting their lives and the world profoundly. However, the specifics of this figure remained to be clarified, leading to ongoing debate and speculation.

Faith, Knowledge, and Unity in John's Gospel 7:43

Jared led a discussion on a Biblical passage from John, chapter 6, verses 5 through 9, which tells of Jesus testing Philip's faith. Jared highlighted that Christ was trying to get Philip to understand his faith and knowledge. He also referred to a similar event in John, chapter 14, verses 8 and 10, where Philip asks Jesus to show them the Father, to which Jesus responds that he and the Father are one. Jared further discussed the story of Elisha feeding 100 men with 20 loaves of barley bread and newly ripened grain in 2 Kings, chapter 4, verses 42 through 44, as an example of faith. Despite this, Andrew questioned the possibility of feeding everyone with only five loaves and two fish. Finally, Jared referred to John, chapter 12, verses 20 through 23, where Greeks seek to see Jesus, and Philip communicates this to Andrew and Jesus.

Greeks, Conversion, and Christ's Grace

He highlighted that despite the Greeks' belief and participation in the Passover feast, they were still called Greeks, indicating they were not complete converts. Jared referred to Matthew, chapter 10, verse 5, where Jesus instructed his disciples not to go to the Gentiles. He emphasized the significance of Christ's passion on the cross, stating it was crucial for the opening of grace to the Gentiles. Jared closed the meeting with a prayer and encouraged viewers to watch 'The Chosen' - a series that helps connect the Bible and its characters.
