The Holy Spirit Promised
And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;
1:4: The Promise of the Father is the gift of the Holy Spirit (v.5), which the Jews had been expecting to accompany the messianic age (see Joel 3:1)...
Joel 3:1-5: God Judges the Nations: “For behold, in those days and at that time,
When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem,

I will also gather all nations,
And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat;
And I will enter into judgment with them there
On account of My people, My heritage Israel,
Whom they have scattered among the nations;
They have also divided up My land.

They have cast lots for My people,
Have given a boy as payment for a harlot,
And sold a girl for wine, that they may drink.
“Indeed, what have you to do with Me,
O Tyre and Sidon, and all the coasts of Philistia?
Will you [a]retaliate against Me?
But if you [b]retaliate against Me,
Swiftly and speedily I will return your [c]retaliation upon your own head;

Because you have taken My silver and My gold,
And have carried into your temples My [d]prized possessions.
3:1-5: The Apostle Peter quoted this prophecy on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:17-21 http://bib.ly/Ac2.17-21.NKJV ; see also John 20:22 http://bib.ly/Jn20.22.NKJV ), when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Christian believers, fulfilling the prophecy...Although this section forms a separate chapter, this passage should be understood as the culmination of the longer preceding prophecy…
The Valley of Jehoshaphat: יְהוֹשָׁפָט Yᵉhôwshâphâṭ, yeh-ho-shaw-fawt'; from H3068 and H8199; Jehovah-judged; Jehoshaphat, the name of six Israelites; also of a valley near Jerusalem:—Jehoshaphat. Compare H3146. This is where the Final Battle will take place in the end times…
Mount Zion: הַר har, har; a shortened form of H2042; a mountain or range of hills (sometimes used figuratively):—hill (country), mount(-ain), × promotion. צִיּוֹן Tsîyôwn, tsee-yone'; the same (regularly) as H6725; Tsijon (as a permanent capital), a mountain of Jerusalem:—Zion.

The Lord’s Prayer
