Make Peace with the Past
27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
(John 14:27)
Pressing Toward the Goal
12 Not that I have already attained,[a] or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have [b]apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degreethat we have already [c]attained, let us walk by the same [d]rule, let us be of the same mind.
(Philippians 3:12-16)
What is the goal- (v. 14) of the maturing of Christians??? For Paul he says that we are to be engaged in the struggle of faith, confident that Christ has made us His Own, but knowing we are not yet PERFECTED: We are to be zealous to PRESS ON- (v. 12) toward the completion of our salvation, THE PRIZE OF THE UPWARD CALL OF GOD- (v. 14)- the resurrection to eternal life:
