Good morning … Great is His faithfulness
“OVERCOMING TOUGH TIMES”
Chapter 4 “TOUGH TIMES BUILD CHARACTER”
DISCPLINE AND A SUCCESSFUL MINISRTY REQUIRES – (These will get you through hard times – trust always in the Lord)
1 obedience
2 Self Denial
3 Struggle
“The biggest take away from this morning’s reflection is that having excuses hinders our ability to perform all tasks … They can hinder us from serving God the way He intended us to serve Him, excuses hinder our daily lives and also our work with a job … Excuses are for those who chose to live entitled rather than living by honor and integrity, society lives for excuses and dishonors, as children of the Most High we are live and serve one another with love, patience, compassion and self-control without excuses, so today have no excuses, turn from those wicked ways and do good and shun evil always, if all we have are excuses when things get rough, than our character will be one of failure and not the character of one who is in constant step with our Lord and Savior” …

“The remembrance of the righteous is with eulogies, But the name of an ungodly man is extinguished … The wise man in heart will receive the commandments, but the man unguarded in speech will be overthrown in his perverseness …
(Proverbs 10:8-9 – NKJV) …
A WISE MAN is seen as a virtuous man, and what makes him virtuous, his become virtuous because he RECIEVES THE COMMANDMENTS of Wisdom – (Christ) … Self control is one of the general virtues … A wise man can control his tongue through Wisdom – (read also James 3, good read) … But the unwise man cannot and will not control his tongue – (unguarded in speech), which overthrows him in his PERVERSENESS …
“This is another way CHARACTER is formed through tough time having control of one’s tongue … This is a hard step to achieve but with God’s help all things are possible through Him …”

“Character is both developed and revealed by tests, and all of life is a test …”

Righteousness cuts straight and blameless paths, but ungodliness embraces wrongdoing … The righteous of upright men delivers them, but the lawless men are taken to their destruction …
RIGHTEOUSNESS, is one of the general virtues, cuts a straight path through this fallen world … Those who chose to travel its path are blameless, but for the ungodly its path is characterized by a crooked path …

Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”
“Always be in good company and stay away from those who will lead astray … When I read this verse, I wish I would have applied this to my earlier life, high school and beyond throughout my military career this verse could have kept me out of all the trouble I use to cause, man I use to create havoc, now I’m a man of peace and love …”

2 Peter 1:5-7
Fruitful Growth in the Faith
5 But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control [a]perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
- 1:5-7: How do we know Christ grow in our participation in the divine nature through grace??? By the cultivation of a progression of spiritual realities … Like in v. 3, virtue refers to the vigor and courage behind attaining moral excellence … Love – (v. 7) is adjoined to brotherly kindness – (affection among Christians), for love of God cannot be perfected except through love of one’s neighbor – (see – 1 John 4:20) …
“As followers of Christ we are to strive for moral excellence, because love conquers all my brothers’ sisters in Christ, because if we fail to respect our neighbors and chose to not love them, then conquering are tough times will only get harder … We cannot have hardened hearts when we are under test, we must work harder to comply with everything God commands us to do” …
