Matthew 16:24-26
Take Up the Cross and Follow Him
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
The cross was an instrument of Roman punishment, and also symbolizes suffering by Christian's who imitate Christ. We are to practice self denial for the sake of the love of God and the Gospel. Galatians 5:24: And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. So by accepting this suffering is by no means a punishment and is not the end either, but to overcome this fallen world through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. We are also told in v. 25 that living for earthly matters and passions and grasping for the gs we could end up losing out on eternal life. 1Corinthians 2:9: But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,Nor have entered into the heart of manThe things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” By sacrificing everything in this world we gain so much more in the world that is to come in our eternal life with Christ.
"We are all to bare each others own cross daily and all share different struggles because our burden are different in this fallen world. Each of us are chosen by God to bear certain struggles that deals specifically with our own salvation and the salvation of those around us. Following Christ is all about discipline, self denial, obedience and struggle. We are to bare this responsibility daily and be fully committed in His Will. This is not just a one time event or even a declaration by mouth it's by action by Discpline and by love of God and His purpose He has for us all."

It doesn't matter how many imperfect situations you find yourself in, keep your faith in Christ and everything will be made perfect. It's our faith that makes us well, Christ came because we all have a hard time staying holy without Him."
