Psalm 149.5,1
The saints shall rejoice in glory… Verse: Sing to the Lord a new song…
- I read from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America website - for the study I posted the NKJV which is what the Orthodox Study Bible is - the website uses the RSV version, and because it draws confusion for me when I switch over to my study portion, I have decided to only use the Study Bible moving forward, I'm just a man with a Bible, I'm not a theologian or even a priest, I'm just a man called by God to do His will and not my own … Have a blessed day, Great is His faithfulness …
Good morning – Great is His faithfulness …
The reading is from St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 4:6-15
6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.
13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
St. Paul suffered and endured a great deal of tribulations even including physical pain, and he still was able to show responsibility for “all the Churches” – (2 Corinthians 11:28), despite of these sufferings, St. Paul still writes, WE DO NOT LOSE HEART – (v. 16) … It was obvious that St. Paul was preoccupied with his glories of the MINISTRY of Christ and the MERCY by which is given to him …
(vv. 3-4) THE VEIL is for the hearts and minds of those who will not believe … and our goal according to –
(v. 5) – “For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake …
(vv. 3-4): "3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them …
- We did not read this but wanted to add for teaching purposes to help with more understanding of what we just read …
(v. 7): THE TREASURE is indicating the light of God’s glory – (v. 6); EARTHERN VESSELS is referring to our humanity … We must allow the light shine through us, so all people can see that THE POWER is of GOD and not from man … Christianity is not trouble free, there is no faith without struggle – according to – (JohnChr) – These trials “show both the power of God and, more, disclose His Grace” …

The Gospel According to Luke 6:17-23
17 And He came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, 18 as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed. 19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all.
The Beatitudes
20 Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
“Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. 21 Blessed are you who hunger now, For you shall be filled.[a] Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh. 22 Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man’s sake. 23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.
- Here are the groups where God can be found …
Which groups do you fit in my brothers and sisters in Christ, my groups are with the ones who mourn and thirst and hunger for righteousness’s sake …
I read from the Explanation by Blessed Theophylact of the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew …
- I read about the two groups I fall into very interesting I mourn not only for my own sins but the sins of others my neighbors, I pray everyone comes to Christ, and I pray see you all in Heaven one day …
- I also seek and practice righteousness daily it's part of my daily cleansing, because in order for me to teach others the ways of Christ, I must cleanse daily, and seek only the guidance and Wisdom of the Lord - I sometimes struggle with patience especially when people are constantly doing the wrong thing …
