NOTE: Greek word of the day: κατάκειμαι katákeimai, kat-ak'-i-mahee; from G2596 and G2749; to lie down, i.e. (by implication) be sick; specially, to recline at a meal:—keep, lie, sit at meat (down).
John 5:6:
When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had beenin that conditiona long time, He said to him,“Do you want to be made well?”
First Reading is from Isaiah 25:1-9
AN ANCIENT AND TRUE COUNSEL SEE v. 1: The Prophet Isaiah is praising God for " the mystery which has been hidden from ages" - (see Colossians 1:26). The prophet knows that one day the mysteries will be revealed in full. This revelation is Christ, the Church and His saints, Isaiah's response is one of obedience- "SO BE IT, LORD. See vv.2-3: God stops the ungodly not because He is punishing sinners but to bring them to full repentance. The poor is wronged, not the strong and proud, will bless and praise HIM. SEE v. 8- the rebellion of humanity against God gave DEATH power to PREVAIL, but Christ will destroy death then WIPE AWAY EVERY TEAR, in this verse we see a similarity to Revelation 21:4: 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
See v. 9: THIS IS OUR GOD: The Apostle Thomas fulfills this prophecy, when he sees the resurrected Christ and cries out, "MY LORD AND MY GOD!" (John 20:28).
Second Reading is from Genesis 9:8-17
Noah's seed is Christ see Luke 3:23; 36. THE EVERLASTING COVENANT (v. 16) is th new covenant God established in Him. God's rainbow in the clouds is His sign of the covenant.
