MATTHEW 11:1-30
THE BAPTIST'S QUESTION TO YESHUA (JESUS), SEE ASLO (LUKE 7:18-23)
MATTHEW 11:1-6:
11:1-3: According to earlier Church Father's (Saints): John the Baptist ask this question in order to guide his own disciples to Yeshua (Jesus): It seems without a doubt, John's own faith was also strengthened through Christ's response (vv. 4-6):
11:5-6: It was predicted by Isaiah that these signs would be all around the Coming of the Messiah (Isaiah 61:1): Yeshua also performs these miracles in the presence of John's disciples (Luke 7:21), so they could see with their own eyes works that only the Messiah could do Himself!!!
JOHN AND YESHUA REJECTED, SEE ALSO (LUKE 7:24-35)
MATTHEW 11:7-19:
11:7-11: IN THE OT LAW, JOHN THE BAPTIST is the greatest prophet: See, (Luke 7:28-and read Notes!!!):
11:12: Many interpretations have been given to the idea that the Kingdom of heaven suffers violence: Some say that it refers to the Jewish opposition to the Gospel: Others have said it refers to the kingdom breaking into the world "violently"- with great force!!! Still others say the Kingdom is referring to Christ Himself, who has been incarnate since the days of John the Baptist, and who will suffer violence on the cross!!! Please see my video content for further discussion on this topic and summary of verse!!!
11:13-14: John does not say he is in the role of Elijah (John 1:21), but Yeshua (Jesus) does: John fulfilled the mission of Elijah (Luke 1:17, 76) and his destiny was similar!!! John the Baptist is also honored over Elijah (V. 11) because it was John who paved the way for the advent of Christ Himself His First Coming!!! See video content for more discussions on this topic!!!
11:16-19: A reference of an early child's game played by the Jews: divided into two groups: Those pretending to play musical instruments or singing, and the others responding in a manner opposite of what would one would have expected!!!Christ is drawing a parallel to the Jewish leaders who responded wickedly both to John the Baptist has being ascetic (Demon) (v. 18) and to Christ as being to Liberal in mercy!!!
WOE TO THE CITIES OF GALILLEE
MATTHEW 11:20-24:
11:20-24: It is far greater to sin to have seen Christ's works and rejected Him than never to have known Him at all!!!
