MATTHEW 27
FRIDAY: THE SANHEDRIN DELIVERS YESHUA (JESUS) TO PILATE SEE ALSO (MARK 15:1; LUKE 22:66-23:1)
MATTHEW 27:1-2
27:1-2: THE RELIGIOUS LAW: at that time dictated the death penalty for blasphemers (Leviticus 24:16), since the Jews were under Roman Occupation, they were prohibited by Roman Law for carrying out an execution: So, they had to get permission from THE GOVERNOR:
THE DEATH OF JUDAS
MATTHEW 27:3-10
27:3-5: IN CONTRAST TO PETER: Who had repented in his sorrow (Matthew 26:75), JUDAS IS REMORSEFUL but does not repent: Suicide is not a sign of repentance but of being a self-absorbed on an extreme level: Two accounts of Judas' suicide are given in the NT, here and in Acts 1:16-19:
"KING OF THE JEWS" SEE ALSO (MARK 15:1-5; LUKE 23:1-7; JOHN 18:28-38)
MATTHEW 27:11-14
27:11-14: THE CHIEF PRIESTS: hide their real charge against Yeshua (Jesus)-the claim of equality with God-because this would not persuade THE GOVERNOR to sentence Him to Death: Instead, they are slick and present a charge of treason-that Yeshua (Jesus) called Himself THE KING OF THE JEWS: This crime would carry the death penalty, for it would have been considered a challenge to Roman Rule and occupation!!!
PILATE BARTERS OVER BARABBAS SEE ALSO (MARK 15:6-15; LUKE 23:13-25; JOHN 18:39-40)
MATTHEW 27:15-26
27:16: YESHUA (JESUS) IS THE TRUE SON OF THE FATHER: Yet the name BARABBAS MEANS "SON OF THE FATHER": The crowd must choose between the one Son of the Father and the other: The influencing to the crowds from the chief priests to choose Barabbas (v. 20), so they were indicating to which father they belonged to that is Satan (John 8:44):
27:17-26: see Luke 23:13-25-
27:25: THIS VERSE: has been used by certain groups to try and justify their sick reasons for persecuting Jews: What many see as a curse turned out to be in fact a blessing invoked unwittingly, it's the Lord's BLOOD that is the true source of redemption: See (Acts 2:41) more evidence of the mercy of Christ:
SOLDIERS MOCK YESHUA (JESUS) AS KING SEE ALSO (MARK 15:16-20)
MATTHEW 27:27-31
27:27-31: EVERY KING IS PROCLAIMED BY HIS SOLDIERS: The intention was indeed mockery, but it was also prophetic that Yeshua (Jesus) should be crowned and hailed as KING by soldiers of the governor (see also John 11:49-51, where Caiaphas unwittingly prophesies of Christ's redemptive work): This mockery shows Yeshua (Jesus) is the One who is despised and rejected by men who bears the iniquity of us all (see, Isaiah 53:3-9): Yeshua (Jesus) is clothed in SCARLET, representing both His royalty and the sins of humanity which He has taken upon Himself!!!
THE CRUCIFIXION SEE ALSO (MARK 15:20-32; LUKE 23:26-43; JOHN 19:16-27)
MATTHEW 27:32-44
27:32-44: YESHUA (JESUS) ACCEPTS MOCKERY: and endures the weakness of our body in His own to take upon Himself our sufferings: Yeshua accomplishes this by uniting His divine nature to our human nature; His human nature is indeed our humanity: He has no sin, He was made to be sin for us, that through His flesh He might condemn sin itself (Romans 8:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 2:9): TWO ROBBERS (v. 38): Although one would later repent (Luke 23:39-43), at first both criminals mock Yeshua (Jesus) (v. 44):
THE DEATH OF YESHUA (JESUS) SEE ALSO (MARK 15:33-41; LUKE 23:44-49; JOHN 19:28-30)
MATTHEW 27:45-56
27:45: DARKNESS: see Zechariah 14:6-7; Amos 8:9- read notes
27:46: YESHUA (JESUS) PRAYS PSALM 21: Which foretold the very details of the Crucifixion: His cry in the Psalms the cry "WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME???" Sometimes is misinterpreted as a cry of despair: According to early saints and their teachings, Yeshua (Jesus) took on our nature, so Yeshua experiences our alienation from God in His humanity, knowing our suffering and distress, yet He does not despair: He speaks these words in the name of humanity, completely identifying with us in our condition, for His divinity, He is never forsaken by the Father!!!
27:50: YIELDED UP HIS SPIRIT: Christ's death was 100% voluntary to the very end, for on the Cross, His life could not be taken from Him against His will: Christ accepts death on the Cross neither to receive the Father's punishment on our behalf, and not even satisfy the Father's need for blood-justice (God would never demand such things), but so that by entering death as a divine Son of God, He can destroy this last enemy, which is death itself (1 Corinthians 15:20-28; read and see notes, and also see Luke 23:46)
27:51: THE VEIL: that separated the Most Holy Place from the rest of the temple was a symbol of the separation between God and mankind: The death of Christ opened the way into the presence of God for all people, giving us all an access to that which is the most holy of all: God Himself:
27:52-53: THE COMPLETENESS OF THE SALVATION WON BY CHRIST: Is signifying in the Resurrection of THE SAINTS FROM THE OT: This guarantees the promise given to Ezekiel that God can and will one day open the graves of all mankind (Ezekiel 37:1-14): The saints entering the HOLY CITY is an icon of resurrected humanity entering the heavenly Jerusalem (Hebrews 11:10 and Hebrews 12:22-23; and Revelation 21:2-Revelation 22:5):
27:54: THE CENTURION: A Gentile, who realizes Yeshua (Jesus) has dominion over nature, and therefore acknowledges Him as THE SON OF GOD: Tradition knows this soldier as St. Longinos!!!
27:56: MARY THE MOTHER OF JAMES AND JOSES: Many early saints teach this was Virgin Mary, being in fact the stepmother of James and Joses (see, Matthew 13:55- compare Mark 15:40, 47): see my video content for better summary!!!
THE BURIAL OF YESHUA (JESUS) SEE ALSO (MARK 15:42-46; LUKE 23:50-56; JOHN 19:38-42)
MATTHEW 27:57-61
27:57-58: TO ASK FOR THE BODY OF YESHUA (JESUS): is a bold public act for this wealthy man, showing that his faith has overcome any fears!!!
27:60: HE IS BURIED IN A NEW TOMB: so that no suspicion might later arise that another had risen instead of Christ:

READ PEACE WITH THE PSALMS/ NOTHING IS UNKNOWN TO GOD: PSALM 139
MESSAGE ABOUT PEACE
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13:
12 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and [a]admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves.
-There is always peace in unity we must always remember that and continue to encourage each other to shun evil and do good always!!! We are to be wise as serpents but be harmless as doves we must always come and represent ourselves in peace, and to be a servant in both humility and in passion just like Yeshua did!!! Lastly we must walk in courage and not in fear, because are to be shepherds of righteousness and never leave the one who went astray behind!!!
