DIVORCE AND MARRIAGE, SEE ALSO (MARK 10:1-12)

MATTHEW 19:1-12

19:1-9: THE BASIS OF THE PHARISEES' TEST IS FOUND IN: (Deuteronomy 24:1-4): The Lord's condescension, or allowance for human weakness, does not override the original principle for marriage found in- (Genesis 1; & 2): The authority given to Christ He adds His own clear prohibition against divorce, see vv. 6, and 9, see also (Matthew 5:31-32; Malachi 2:15-16):

19:9: THE PERMISSIBLE REASONS FOR DIVORCE: Were expanded during the times of the ancient Church to include threat to a spouse's or child's life and desertion, in also in all cases acknowledging the spiritual tragedy of such a situation, see also (Matthew 5:31-32):

19:10-12: CHRIST STEERS THE DISCIPLES TOWARD UNDERTANDING THE HOLNESS OF VIRGINITY: Not to see as a rejection of marriage, but as a special calling for those to whom it has been given: Eunuchs were men who had been castrated, whether it was by birth defect, disease or even by mutilation were often employed to guard women of nobility: Yeshua is referring to those who freely choose lifelong celibacy for the sake of kingdom of heaven: This virginity is not to be confused with self-mutilation, which the Church condemned at the First Ecumenical Council in (AD 325): see, also (1 Corinthians 7:7, 25-38):

RECEIVING THE CHILDREN, SEE ALSO (MARK 10:13-16; LUKE 18:15-17)

MATTHEW 19:13-15

19:13-15: THE DISCIPLES REBUKED THE MOTHERS FOR BRINGING LITTLE CHILDREN: To Christ because of their manner was "unruly" and because they thought the children "diminished His dignity as Teacher and Master" (Theoph): Here Christ is rejecting this thinking and setting the children as the example of how to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (God): see (Luke 18:15-17):

RICHES AND THE KINGDOM, SEE ALSO (MARK 10:17-31; LUKE 18:18-30)

MATTHEW 19:16-30

19:16-17: THIS MAN DOES NOT COME TO TEST YESHUA (JESUS): But instead to seek advice from one he considers no more than A GOOD TEACHER: CHRIST RESPONSE: (v. 17) does not deny He is God, but designed to lead the rich man to this knowledge!!!

19:20: FORMAL OBSERVANCE OF COMMANDMENTS: Does not make us righteous before God: The man had an earnest desire for eternal life, but seemed to lack something and presses Yeshua (Jesus) for the answer he was seeking!!!

19:21: TO BE PERFECT: Meaning to be perfect in FAITH is one must be willingly to sacrifice all and deny self will, pickup the cross and follow Christ: Of course nothing is gained unless sacrifice is freely given!!!

19:23-26: VARIOUS INTERPRETATIONS: Have been suggested for the impossible image of a CAMEL going through an EYE OF A NEEDLE: Further translations show the word was not CAMEL, BUT "ROPE"; or that the eye of a needle was a city gate through which the camel might barely squeeze if it were first unloaded of all it's baggage, symbolizing wealth: Even the Talmud uses the expression "for an elephant to go through an eye of a needle..." so salvation is nearly impossible for those attached to riches, the disciples response, "who then can be saved???" answer by the Grace of God even the impossible to man can come to pass!!! meaning possible for the Lord!!!

19:28: JUDGING: SEE AND READ LUKE 22:30!!!

19:29-30: CHRIST IS NOT COMMANDING: Believers to divorce spouses and abandon children: See (1 Corinthians 7:12-16):

THE FIRST AND THE LAST

MATTHEW 20:1-16

20:1-16: PARABLE VINEYARD: Vineyard is life in this world: The DAY is referring to both the span of a single person's life and to the whole of human history: THE LABORERS, are all the people in every nation: each HOUR can refer to times in a person's life, infancy, youth, adulthood, maturity or even in old age: Second meaning: in the span of history, referring to those called during the covenants with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and finally Christ: The Lord's generosity provide equal reward for both early and late comers, it's and upside down Kingdom, The Last will be first and the first will be last!!! We are not to resent those who get saved in the eleventh hour, is better to be late than never show up at all!!!

JESUS' DEATH AND RESURRECTION, SEE ASLO (MARK 10:32-34; LUKE 18:31-34)

MATTHEW 20:17-19

20:17-19: CHRIST'S REPEATED PREDICTION OF HIS PASSION: Was meant to encourage and strengthen the disciples for the terrifying events they would soon face:

LEADERS AS SERVANTS, SEE ASLO (MARK 10:35-45)

MATTHEW 20: 20-28:

20:20-23: THIS QUEST FOR TEMPORAL POWER: And glory is unfitting for a disciple: also shows earthly misunderstanding of the Kingdom of God: Matthew writes that THE MOTHER OF ZEBEDEE'S SONS requested this honor, but John's and James' own involvement is revealed by the plural YOU in v. 22, see also Mark 10:35: CHRIST CALLS HIS CRUCIFIXION A CUP AND HIS DEATH A BAPTISM: The cross is a cup because He drank it willingly His own free will (Hebrews 12:2): His death is baptism, for He completely immersed in it, yet it cleansed the world (Romans 6:3-6): Christ's prophecy of John and James participating in the same cup and baptism is showing the life of persecution and martyrdom the would lead after Pentecost!!! Christ is declaring that the places of honor in the Kingdom are not His to GIVE does not mean He lacks authority: Rather means He does not give by random choice, but leaves it to His Father's will to place people where He has already prepared for them!!!

20:24-28: SEE AND READ AND NOTES ON LUKE 22:24-27: "FOR MANY" (v. 28): In Aramaic means "FOR ALL"!!!

TWO BLIND MEN CONFESS JESUS AS LORD

MATTHEW 20:29-34

20:29-34: THE TWO BLIND MEN: Greet Jesus as LORD, the common title for God, and Son of David, a title that is associated and rooted into the title Messiah!!! Yeshua knows what we want before we ask, he calls us to ask freely so that we might learn of His great Mercy!!! Early Church Saints and Father also give a spiritual interpretation to this miracle, with the blind men symbolizing future generations who would come to faith only by hearing and without th benefit of seeing Christ in person: see also (John 20:29): Those who tried to silence the blind men are persecutors and tyrants who, in every generation try to silence the Church!!!

THE LOVE OF THE LORD OF OUR GOD, I LOVE WHAT I DO!!!
