JOHN 8- STUDY & NOTES
In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was WITH GOD, and the WORD WAS GOD...In HIM was life and the life was the LIGHT of all people...The LIGHT SHINES in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it...The Lord God raised up His Son, the LIGHT of the world, to begin the new CREATION...Blessed is the name of the LORD!!! Christ our God, by Your great mercy we have been born a new to a living hope through Your Resurrection, and to an inheritance which is eternal!!! This is the day of the Lord!!! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!!! Let us thank the Lord for daily food, health and the blessings of home...Let us love one another in the Lord: Now we live in Christ through the Holy Spirit and we look for the day when we will dwell with Him in His glorious Kingdom; Savior, Bless these Your gifts which we receive from Your hand...May the light of Your resurrection shine in us and through us to all, for Your honor and glory... Amen!!!
JESUS RESTORES THE ADULTEROUS WOMAN
JOHN 7:53-JOHN 8:1-11
7:53-8:11: THIS STORY OF THE WOMAN CAUGHT IN ADULTREY: is not found in several ancient manuscripts, nor is it covered in the commentaries of St. John Chrysostom and certain other early Fathers and Saints!!! However we look at it- it is still sealed by the Church as inspired, authentic, canonical Scripture , and it bears the same authority as all other Scripture: It is also read on one of two days when St. Mary of Egypt, a reformed prostitute, is commemorated!!!
8:5-6: THE LAW: dictated the death penalty for adulterers (Lv 20:10): This ordinance was not observed to the letter in the days of Yeshua (Jesus); the Pharisees brought this one woman in particular because they saw an opportunity to test Him and they wanted this to be their test on Him: If Christ had objected to the punishment, He could be accused of opposing the Law; if He upheld the punishment, then He could be accused of showing no mercy to sinners!!!
LEVITICUS 20:10: The man who commits adultery with another man's wife, or who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall be put to death...
8:7-11: CHRIST'S ANSWER CONFOUNDS THE PHARISEES: for He upholds a great principle of the Law-that the wages of sin is death- (Genesis 2:17; Romans 6:23)-without neglecting its greater aspect of mercy (Dt 13:17; Psalm 116:2-117:4; Hosea 6:6): This mercy is offered freely to all repentant sinners: In order for us to receive this gift, we must in turn and completely flee from sin (v. 11):
JESUS, LIGHT OF THE WORLD
JOHN 8:12-30
8:12: I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD: Jesus spoke these words in the context of the great lamps being lit at the conclusion of the Feast of Tabernacles (see my notes John 7:2): He (Christ) declares Himself to be the fulfillment and the divine object of all celebrations of light: In the Scriptures, God the Father Himself is light (John 1:4-9; 1 John 1:5), an attribute He bestows on His followers (Matthew 5:14; Philippians 2:15): Our Lord confirms His claim by performing the great sign of opening the eyes of a man born blind (JOHN 9:1-7; See especially JOHN 9:5):
8:13-18: YOUR WITNESS: See my Notes- John 5:31-47: 5:31-47: HOW COULD CHRIST'S WITNESS EVER BE UNTURE??? it cannot (see John 8:14): Rather, Jesus is anticipating the argument and speaking the thoughts of the Jewish leaders (He does the same thing in Luke 4:23): In Jewish tradition, a valid testimony requires two witnesses (Dt 17:6): Jesus offers four witnesses to confirm His identity as the Messiah and also as the Son of God: (1) God the Father (vv. 32, 37, 38); (2): John the Baptist (vv. 33-35); (3): His own works (v. 36); and (4) the OT Scriptures, through which MOSES and others gave testimony- (vv. 39-47):
8:19: BECAUSE THE SON AND THE FATHER: share the same divine nature, one cannot be KNOWN apart from the other- (John 14:7-11):
8:21: GOING AWAY: refers to Jesus' death, Resurrection, and Ascension into heaven:
8:28: LIFT UP: has the double meaning of being nailed to the Cross and of being exalted by His FATHER upon the completion of His work!!!
THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE
JOHN 8:31-36
8:31: JESUS EXPECTS: all who follow Him to be DISCIPLES, THAT IS, LEARNERS: ABIDING IN HIS WORD: is the responsibility of all believers, not only of the clergy or of an elite class of zealots:
8:32: THE TRUTH: refers both to virtue of truth, but more importantly, to Christ Himself (John 14:6): BEING FREE- refers to the freedom from darkness, confusion, and lies, as well as the freedom from bondage of sin and death!!!
SONS OF THE DEVIL REJECT THE SON OF GOD
JOHN 8:37-51
8:37-40: TO BE A CHILD OF ABRAHAM: is not enough to be simply related by blood; rather, Abraham's true CHILDREN share his faith and virtue (Luke 3:8): St. John Chrysostom teaches that our Lord wanted to detach the Jews from racial pride and to teach them no longer to place their hope of salvation in being of the race of Abraham's children by nature, but to come to faith by their own free will: Their idea that being a descendant of Abraham was enough for salvation was the very thing that prevented them from coming to Christ!!!
LUKE 3:8: Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.
8:42: PROCEEDED: refers not to the Son coming eternally to the Father, but to Christ being SENT from the FATHER to His Incarnation on earth: †ἐξέρχομαιexérchomai, ex-er'-khom-ahee; from G1537 and G2064; to issue (literally or figuratively):—come (forth, out), depart (out of), escape, get out, go (abroad, away, forth, out, thence), proceed (forth), spread abroad
8:44: JUST AS BEING A CHILD OF ABRAHAM: is based on sharing his attributes (see my notes for vv. 37-40), likewise, those who reject Christ share the same attributes as THE DEVIL (in particular, a hatred for TRUTH), and are rightly called the devil's children!!!
8:48: UNABLE TO DEFEAT CHRIST: through logic or truth, these enemies resort to personal insult (see also JOHN 9:34): - The Pharisees and Scribes as the elders all seem to have something in common with all of our mainstream political candidates as well as our mainstream media- Satan is Mainstream deceiver be aware and you have been WARNED!!!
THE FATHER HONORS THE SON

8:58: I AM: (Greek- Ego Eimi)- Greek Divine name for God- HEBREW (Yahweh)- IN THE OT, first revealed to Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:13-15): To the Jews, this was a direct, explicit, and unmistakable claim to be perfect equality with God, as evidenced by their reaction (v. 59; see also Mark 14:62-64- I have notes on this posted to my page part of Mark Studies): John places special emphasis on the use of the Name to clearly reveal Christ as God: This Divine claim illuminates Christ's authority even over death (v. 52), a power belonging only to God the Father!!!
"The truth sets us free so why do people continue to ignore the truth!!! Yeshua (Jesus) is the Light of the World Because He is the Truth and The Only Way to eternal peace!!! We live in a fallen world and it belongs to the ruler of this world and that is Satan the evil one and his puppets!!! The only truth I live for now are the Words spoken in this Book- We are called to help the needy, poor-homeless- we are called to cloth the naked, feed the hungry, and help the sick- Visit the ones in the prison's, and to help our communities all we can giving whatever
strengths have so people are truly taken care of!!!
-Lastly do not get caught up the doctrine of man, but be changed by the doctrine of our Lord and Savior!!! Trust His Words and only His words, furthermore getting caught up in the mainstream of way living whether you are still listening to mainstream media or putting your faith into a broken system thinking we can still vote our way out of this mess!!! I'm here with a simple message the collapse of America is at hand, and America will be no more, time to turn from our wicked ways and seek the Lord give Him your hearts today my brothers and sisters in Christ!!!
