BACKGROUND: Deuteronomy was written in the territory of Moab where the Jordan River flows into the Dead Sea … Moses’ death is imminent … He has given his final address, transferred all his authority to Joshua, so Joshua can lead the Israelites into the promised land … Their nomadic lifestyle is fixing to change, and Moses has prepared them for a life in Canaan … DUETRONOMY, means the “SECOND LAWGIVING”, which comes from Moses’ heart in a warm, personal, homiletic form compared to his other books …
