DAY 6: REDEMPTION: The Chosen 40 Days With Jesus - (John 1:17-18) ...

Good evening … Great is His faithfulness …

DAY 6: REDEMPTION

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten [a]Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

John 1:17-18

NO ONE HAS SEEN GOD AT ANY TIME: No one can see the nature, or essence, of God, for to see God is to die (Exodus 33:20) : Only One who Himself is divine can see God, and the SON is the only One who can DECLARE HIM: This revelations of God's energies can be received by the faithful: Moses saw the back of God (Exodus 33:21-23): Isaiah saw His glory (see- Isaiah 6:1, John 12:41)

Exodus 33:20: 20 But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”

33:20: No man can see the essence of the Father – (“MY FACE”), either in this world or in the one to come – (JohnChr; GrgNy) … The Apostle John also said the same thing: “No one has seen God at any time” – (John 1:18) … But the Son is one in essence with the Father, and therefore fully sees and knows the Father’s essence – (AthanG; JohnChr) …

Exodus 33:21-23: 21 And the Lord said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. 22 So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. 23 Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”

3:21: A PLACE refers to the Holy Spirit, for He is often called the place of those being sanctified … Moses as well gained some knowledge of God by the Spirit – (BasilG) …

3:22: The Son of the Father is THE ROCK AND THE HAND … The Rock reveals the mystery of the Incarnation – (1Corinthians 10:4; AmbM) … The hand reveals the oneness in essence of the Son with the Father … For as the hand is one in essence with the body, similarly, the Son is one essence with the Father – (AthanG) … Therefore, He reveals the Father and makes Him known to all of mankind …

3:23: MY BACK refers to the Glory of God, for man can see His glory if his heart is pure … For Moses saw His glory to the extent he was capable, as in the case with any man … This glory is also called His energy … Man can know God in His energy, but not in His essence …

Isaiah 6:1: Isaiah Called to Be a Prophet

6 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

-THE YEAR KING UZZIAH DIED … Certain Biblical scholars date this event at 734 BC … The Fathers teach that the sins of the king caused prophecy to cease for a time – (2 Chronicles 26:18 – Orthodox study Bible) …

John 12:41: 41 These things Isaiah said [a]when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.

-ISAIAH … SAW HIS (Christ’s) GLORY in about 700 BC – (Isaiah 6:1) and SPOKE OF HIM in many places throughout his lengthy prophecy …

1: What was the point of God’s 1-2-3- pattern in the OT??? He was showing how great He truly is, it’s the power of the Trinity everything happens in 3’s and that’s when you truly know when it comes from the One Above, the One outside space and time … His great glory and power were demonstrated also in the NT, it’s reminding me of the time Peter denied Jesus and the time He restored Peter’s faith and calling …

2: What does His sacrifice on the Cross reveal to you about God the Father??? It reveals His true love for all His creation and the fact that our Creator lowered Himself and made Himself Man in the Flesh is remarkable … It shows that the Ultimate Alpha and Omega truly loves His creation that He lowered Himself even to the point of death, it’s so beautiful words can’t described this true act of heroism …

3: How can you live out gratitude for the grace you’ve already been given for your rebellion??? Why dwell on my rebellion when I can just move forward living the New Creation, I’ve been given by Christ … My gratitude is shown in my daily reads and prayers, I fully understand what He has done for me … I remember His Words – those who look back aren’t fit for the kingdom of Heaven … Never look back the old is dead and has been redeemed, live everyday for Christ my brothers and sisters in Christ …

PRAYER FOCUS:

Thank God for His story of redemption, then ask Him to reveal Himself even more in all ways you’re pursuing Him … (The Chosen 40 Days with Jesus) …

Psalm 129 (130) – Part of tonight’s Prayer Focus …
