Day 30: DEVOTED - (Mark 3:13-19)

Good evening. Great is His faithfulness.

Mark 3:13-19
The Twelve Apostles
13 And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. 14 Then He appointed twelve, [d]that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, 15 and to have [e]power [f]to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: 16 [g]Simon, to whom He gave the name Peter; 17 James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, “Sons of Thunder”; 18 Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite; 19 and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. And they went into a house.

The terms "Apostle" and "Disciple" are interchangeable - one means "Learner" and the other means "Sent Out."

The devotional focused a great deal on Judas Iscariot the who one betrayed our Lord with a kiss. In a video a gave a discussion on how a see Judas when I read the Scriptures. Here is a quick rundown of what I see, but to understand fully please see my video. Judas could have started out as a very devoted follower of our Lord, or he could have been a deceiver all along. The Scriptures tells us he was a thief and seemed very self absorb in his in own passions and desires. What strikes me about Judas is how he had the best Teacher - The Teacher of Teachers and yet, Judas still fail away and betrayed our Lord for 30 pieces of silver. Judas is an example that none of us are immune from falling away from God if we lose focus on our heavenly treasures and than turn focus to earthly treasures we ourselves could become dead in our sins just like Judas, The once saved always saved new style of teaching is a teaching that floats the line with Judas and is extremely deceptive.

see my video for the rest of the devotional and questions.

John 10:12

But a[a]hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you;

25 The Lord make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The Lord[a]lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace.” ’
