“Blessed”, it says, “are the poor” – (Saint Luke 6:20) … Not everyone who is poor are blessed, because poverty is neutral … Poor can be both good and evil, or by chance, the blessed is to be understood as whom the prophet has described, saying, “A righteous poor man is better than a rich liar” – (Proverbs 19:22) … Blessed is the poor man who cried, and the Lord heard him – (Psalm 33:6), the man poor in offence, the man poor in vices, - (John 14:30) – “ will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. So, the prince of this world finds nothing in the poor man … The poor match of that Poor Man Who, although He was rich, became poor for our sake – (2Corinthians 8:9) … St. Matthew fully revealed, saying, “Blessed are the poor in spirit” – (Matthew 5:3), for a man who is poor in spirit is not puffed up, and is not exalted in the mind of his own flesh … The context of which Blessed is used is indicating heavenly blessing, a spiritual exaltation and has nothing to do with earthly happiness or even earthly prosperity … In Hebrew – POOR: עָנִי ʻânîy, aw-nee'; from H6031
- “POOR IN SPIRIT” are Material poor, and faithful among God’s people – “The poor spirit are those who have the heart of the poor, the same attitude as the poor, and are totally dependent on God …
Moving Forward 1: Put yourself in the disciples’ shoes … Would it be difficult for you to minister to the desperate crowds??? Why or why not??? Great question I’m sure it would be difficult depending on the type of crowd … For me I struggle with crowds that become hostile, but if a crowd that was lower key would be easier for me to minister to … This is one area where I approved on being able to read, pray and even teach God’s Word out in public … Helping at our Church’s Learning Center, has helped me with my anxiety doing the morning prayers and daily reads, where I read and pray out loud to the kids and to all the Learning Center staff… This has helped me some of my social anxiety, I’m most certainly able to minister and teach in public if the crowds aren’t too wild for me …

2: Is there someone you know who fits the “poor in spirit” category especially well??? What attributes come to mind??? For this question I will keep it simple, I know lots of people who fit the “poor in spirit”, and their attributes is how they live their lives, for me these are the people who became examples in my life that led me to my faith as it is today …
3: What are ways you can pursue being “poor in spirit”??? I’m working on that now, ever since my chrismation in 2019, I have realized that materialism is nothing more than a distraction to keep you from the true spiritual gifts that truly come from God … I’m learning to be more dependent on God each day, and I’m seeing the results of that everlasting relationship, remember it doesn’t matter the good, the bad, or the ugly, The Lord is always there every step of the way … Being “POOR IN SPIRIT” is how we can become content in our lives with the peace the Lord brings to all, stay faithful!!!

Ask God to make you “contrite (remorse), and lowly in spirit” so you can experience revival …
PSALM 145 (146)
PSALM 145 (146) – Part of this evening’s prayer focus – The Psalm praises the Lord, Our Creator, His eternal reign in the Church – (vv. 1,2,6, 10 – will breakdown from my study Bible) … for He is our helper, our hope, our freedom, our restorer, our wisdom, and our keeper – (vv. 5, 7-9, breakdown from my study Bible) … No earthly rulers can provide these things, for death overtakes them – (vv. 3, 4- breakdown from my study Bible) … what a great Psalm -Prayer focus for the poor and the poor in spirit – but all faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ … Please see my video for the breakdown …
