DAY 22: "FOR ALL": The Chosen 40 Days with Jesus: "Relationship not Religion" …

Good evening … Great is His faithfulness …

DAY 22: FOR ALL

29 Then Levi gave Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a great number of tax collectors and others who sat down with them. 30 [a]And their scribes and the Pharisees [b]complained against His disciples, saying, “Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”

31 Jesus answered and said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

33 Then they said to Him, “Why[c] do the disciples of John fast often and make prayers, and likewise those of the Pharisees, but Yours eat and drink?”

34 And He said to them, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? 35 But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.”

36 Then He spoke a parable to them: “No one [d]puts a piece from a new garment on an old one; otherwise the new makes a tear, and also the piece that was taken out of the new does not match the old. 37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine will burst the wineskins and be spilled, and the wineskins will be ruined. 38 But new wine must be put into new wineskins, [e]and both are preserved. 39 And no one, having drunk old wine, [f]immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is [g]better.’

δοχή dochḗ, dokh-ay'; from G1209; a reception, i.e. convivial entertainment:—feast. This indicating to us that Matthew gave a reception full joy and gratitude, I bet it was amazing considering how he was living just moments before Jesus called him to follow Him … Taking a good look at the guest register is a good demonstration of the fruit of Jesus’s love and forgiveness, to live in the Spirit is to have a life in the Spirit …

For I desire mercy[a] and not sacrifice, And the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Hose 6:6

We can see that Jesus had a life of joyous blessings during His time on earth, but He also addressed to them that when the Bridegroom leaves the day will come when they will FAST, and will be practice by them and others who turn to Christ and fully surrender to His will and ways …

-According to the commentary of the Orthodox Study Bible this saying in (v. 39): “And no one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new; for he says, ‘The old is better’ … (1): it’s showing us the difficulty with and which the Jews would accept the new covenant, (2): The inner resistance a person faces in turning from a sinful way of living, and (3): The general stubbornness of the human heart …

SICK: κακῶς kakōs, kak-oce'; from G2556; badly (physically or morally):—amiss, diseased, evil, grievously, miserably, sick, sore.

RIGHTEOUS: ὑγιαίνω hugiainō, hoog-ee-ah'-ee-no; from G5199; to have sound health, i.e. be well (in body); figuratively, to be uncorrupt (true in doctrine):—be in health, (be safe and) sound, (be) whole(-some).

I.to be sound, to be well, to be in good health II.metaph. A. of Christians whose opinions are free from any mixture of error B. of one who keeps the graces and is strong 1: What are the areas of your life where need a “physician”??? I attend the Eugene Vet Center for Combat readjustment counseling … My counselor Joe Bradford has become a spiritual father to me these last few years … We read scripture together while in session and helps me find spiritual cleansing when I’m frustrated, The Lord is Great in all His ways, He is truly the Healer in more ways than one, He can also find us spiritual brothers and sister along our way that help restore us and keep us on the right track, I’m truly blessed … 2: When you have been guilty of the Pharisee’s judgment here??? I can’t recall, but none of us are perfect, we are all imperfect, but the Bible makes clear to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees’ … 3: Who do you know who wouldn’t be considered “healthy” by church leaders, and how can you treat them as Jesus treated the “sick”??? I have no examples of this to share as of now … Prayer Focus Thank God for offering health for your sin and sickness and ask Him to give you the same soft heart toward the “sick”, that Christ had …

Psalm 61 (62): Tonight’s prayer Focus … (Ephesians 1:22-23): And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”
