DAY 21: USEFUL: The Chosen 40 Days with Jesus - "Useful to the Lord" …

Good evening … Great is His faithfulness …

DAY 21: USEFUL

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, [a]sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

2Timothy 2:20-26

HERESY CORRUPTS: According to the commentary bad theology leads to bad behaviors … Here on earth the Church is a mixture of wheat and tares sown together – (vv. 19-21) this is extremely true … From my experience you will know the good ones from their fruits … Membership in a particular Church guarantees nothing – even the baptismal confession – (quoted in v. 19) acknowledges the necessity of struggle … There is no faith without struggle and no ministry can survive without discipline: the three ingredients to that is obedience, self- denial, and struggle …

-Good theology can help push us to a path of good behavior, but it still takes work on our end, one cannot simply change by a simple confession by mouth or going through the motions while others are looking, no it’s a constant action in our lives through prayer, fasting and making that ultimate commitment to do His will and not your own … Although the truth stands firm and unalterable and cannot tolerate the false – (see, 1 Corinthians 5:1-13; and 2 Corinthians 6:14-18), it helps to instill a reasonable patience along with gentleness toward all, especially toward false teachers, and this where I struggle- but we aren’t to lose sight of the fact that they are enemies and to be avoided – (2 Timothy 3:5) …

1: In what ways do you tend to focus more on what you can do than on the One whose Spirit you contain??? Must watch video for the answers tonight was a huge step in my cleansing…

2: Can you think of anyone you value more because of what they do than who they are in Christ??? I respect and value everyone for who they are whether they are in Christ are not … We are all created in His Image even the unbelievers so we should respect all with love and compassion…

3: How can you make yourself more available??? I might need help with this question because I feel I’m always available trying to help and do all can whether it’s at Church or I my community … My social anxiety is a weakness I have talked about before so I feel this is an area to work on maybe if I can some help from the Lord on this one, I might be able to be more available than I’m right now …

PRAYER FOCUS:

Thank God, He doesn’t value you for what you do, then ask Him to reveal things you can do for Him that don’t necessarily require your natural skills …

Psalm 144 (145): Part of this evening’s prayer focus …

Numbers 6:24-26

“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; 26 The Lord [a]lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”
