DAY 14: BOLDNESS: The Chosen 40 Days with Jesus - Luke 11:9-13- "ASK, SEEK & KNOCK" …

Good evening … Great is His faithfulness …

DAY 14: BOLDNESS

Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking

9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for [e]bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

(Luke 11:9-13)

In Greek, the verbs – ASK, SEEK AND KNOCK imply action –

ASK: αἰτέω aitéō, ahee-teh'-o; of uncertain derivation; to ask (in genitive case): —ask, beg, call for, crave, desire, require. Compare G4441.

SEEK: ζητέω zētéō, dzay-teh'-o; of uncertain affinity; to seek (literally or figuratively); specially, (by Hebraism) to worship (God), or (in a bad sense) to plot (against life): —be (go) about, desire, endeavour, enquire (for), require, (X will) seek (after, for, means).Compare G4441.

KNOCK: κρούω kroúō, kroo'-o; apparently a primary verb; to rap: —knock.

All these verbs imply action and a continual process and are better translated, “KEEP ASKING” – “KEEP SEEKING” – & - KEEP KNOCKING” – God responds to those who persistently ask for things that are good … BREAD, FISH, AND AN EGG are all images of life and symbolize the gift of the HOLY SPIRIT – (John 14:13; and James 4:3) …

John 14:13:

13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

James 4:3:

3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.

1: Describe a time you felt bold in approaching Jesus … What did you ask for??? I ask for patience daily; I ask for Wisdom to understand what I read from the Bible … I ask and seek for self- control in all situations that I might find myself involved in … I ask for the blessings of family members and friends, and of my enemies and those who do like me … I guess I’m not understanding this question because

everything I need is seek in prayer and I don’t need a situation to arise to do my duty as a servant of God …

2: How did He answer you??? What is this question asking??? He answers all the time because it’s our faith that makes us well it’s how He heals all of infirmities, and that’s something else I also seek, ask and knock for in prayer as well myself and all of you who I constantly pray for …

3: How would you answer Jesus’s question: What do you want??? I’m not understanding this question it seems kind of forceful from us just being merely flesh … Jesus doesn’t have to grant us anything and to be clear our answer to Jesus should always be Lord, I live to serve Your will and not mine own … My Lord, I Live to feed your lambs and tend to your sheep, and do not let me be selfishness in the things I ask for, and what I ask for should always put your plans first and always above ours …

Prayer Focus:

Be bold … Ask God for wisdom and growth and life change, then ask Him for clarity in areas of your life confused about …

Psalm 50 (51) – Part of this evening Prayer Focus …
