DAY 128: STEADFAST IN YOUR RESOLVE (Luke 9:51-56)- Jesus A Spiritual Revolutionary...

Good morning, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Luke 9:51-56

Kindness and Humility Towards the Inhospitable

Now it came to pass when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem, 52 and sent messengers before His face. And as they went, they entered a village of the Samaritans to prepare for Him. 53 But they did not receive Him because His face was set for the journey to Jerusalem. 54 And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, [a]just as Elijah did?"

55 But He turned and rebuked them, [b]and said, "You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. 56 [c]For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men's lives but to save them." And they went to another village.

When his disciples, James and John, suggested commanding fire from heaven to consume the villagers, Jesus rebuked them and taught them about kindness and humility, even in the face of rejection. Jesus's message was about bringing spiritual change, and he taught that actual change can only happen when individuals change themselves first. This involves repentance, confession, receiving God's mercy and forgiveness, and living more communally with others.

Jesus's Message of Kindness and Humility

Jared discussed the importance of kindness and humility as taught by Jesus. He explained the importance of not letting our thoughts get in trouble and being harmless as doves. He closed by emphasizing that the message of Jesus, which was to fix the problems of hatred and evil, is still relevant today.

Prayer and Personal Change

Jared led a prayer and a discussion where he emphasized the importance of personal change and its impact on the world.
