Good evening … Great is His Faithfulness …
DAY 11: PROCLAIM
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me [a]to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are [b]oppressed; 19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
20 Then He closed the book and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.
(LUKE 4:18-20)
Being the eternal Son of God, Christ has always been the world’s ANIONTED SAVIOR even before the foundations of the world were spoken into existence by our Creator … It was also Christ speaking through Isaiah the prophet who said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me” – (Isaiah 61:1) … He does not say, “The Spirit has come upon Me” … When the SPIRIT OF THE lord DESCENDED on Jesus at His baptism – (Luke 3:22), this sign revealed an eternal, not temporal, truth to the people … THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR: The time of Christ’s Incarnation, and this is when the Kingdom of Heaven has come upon the earth – (2 Corinthians 6:2) …
2 Corinthians 6:2: 2 For He says:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Moving Forward:
1: Which of Jesus’ character qualities most stand out to you in this story??? Jesus showed absolute self- control as a true leader, He read from the scroll explained this part of the Scripture has been fulfilled the other parts were for the future … The reaction Jesus got reminds me of the reactions I get today proclaiming the Lord and salvation for all through Christ … With Jesus I have noticed people either love Him or hate Him, and others completely take His teachings out of context only to fit what narrative feels right to them … The way Jesus stays collected is a good example for all of us try to imitate, observing Jesus, has helped me to become a better and stronger leader – imitating His compassion and mercy …
2: Why do you think Jesus began His three years of ministry with this public display in His hometown??? Because it foreshadowed His Passion and His rejection by the entire Jewish nation at His trial before Pilate – Jesus in Nazareth received both marveling and rejection – like I previously stated people either love Christ or hate Him, or they completely take Him out of context …
3: What are ways you can display the same love for those Jesus came for as the prophecies indicate??? My studies, my readings, and my prayers … Being a good listener putting the people I’ve been called to help first and deny my own self-will and do the will of my Father in heaven and that’s how we display the love for those Jesus came from …
Prayer Focus:
Thank God for His heart for the oppressed, ask Him to give you that same heart, and then ask Him for courage to proclaim the good news as boldly as Jesus did …
Psalm 40 (41): Part of this evenings Prayer Focus
Psalm 40 (41): is a prophecy of Christ – (the end) – (v. 1) For the End; a Psalm by David – and of His death and Resurrection, which leads to healing of those in the Church – (from sickness to wholeness, v. 4, and heal my soul, v. 5) … When The Lord Jesus says, FOR I HAVE SINNED AGAINST YOU – (v .5), He is taking part, although He Himself is sinless – (INNOCENCE, v. 13; see also Hebrews 7:25, 26) …
Hebrews 7:25-26:
25 Therefore He is also able to save [a]to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
26 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, [b]harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens;
IN CHRIST LOVE JARED W. CAMPBELL
