OPENING PRAYER
"Man Shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God"- Matthew 4:4- "My mother and brothers are those who hear the Word of God and do it" - Mark 8:21
Having received this day as a gift, I (We) thank You Holy Trinity, for through Your goodness and patience You were not wrathful with me (Us), and idler (s) and sinner (s), neither have You cast me (Us) down in my (Our)sins...But You have shown Your love towards me (us) and have guided me (us) to keep my (our) daily watch to glorify Your power...Enlighten my (our) mind (minds) to study Your teachings in Scripture...Help me (us) to apply what I (we) learn and to praise You with all my (our) heart and glorify Your Holy Name, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and forever...Amen!!!
Shine within my (our) hearts, loving Master, the pure Light of Your Divine Knowledge, and open the eyes of my mind that I may understand Your teachings...Instill in me (us) also reverence for Your Blessed commandments, so having conquered sinful desires I (we) may pursue a spiritual way of life, thinking and doing all those things that are pleasing to You...For You, Christ my God, are my light, and to You I (we) give, glory, together with Your Father and Your Holy Spirit, now and forever...Amen!!!

ACTS 19 STUDY GUIDE & BREAKDOWN!!!
DISCIPLES OF JOHN THE BAPTIST
ACTS 19:1-7
19:1: EPHESUS: was the capital of the Roman province of Asia Minor, a large, magnificent city: Paul remained there for 2 years and 3 months-(vv. 8-10): because of the city's influence, churches were formed in almost every neighboring city and town within those three years: The seven churches in (Revelation 2-3 are all in this area):
19:2-4: REPENTANCE-(v. 4): is good, but apart from CHRIST JESUS, it does not secure salvation: Repentance is enough to keep us from sin, but it cannot restore us from corruption: Only the Incarnation of the Son of God has the power to overthrow both sin and its subsequent corruption-(AthanG): So, a person needs to be joined to Christ in baptism and the sustaining power of THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!
19:5-6: BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS: SEE NOTES-AT ACTS 8:16-17: Laying on of the hands for the reception of the Holy Spirit- (Chrismation) is a distinct sacrament from baptism, though always united to it: In the Church today, chrismation can be administered not only by the bishop, but also by the priests who anoint with a special oil consecrated by the bishop!!!
TWO YEARS IN EPHESUS
ACTS 19:8-10
19:8-10: ON THE TERM REASONING: as it occurs in- vv. 8, 9-see my notes-Acts 17:2-3: Again Paul follows the pattern of first preaching to the Jews and then moving onto the Gentiles- (see also Acts 13:45-notes):
OCCULTISTS CONVERTED
ACTS 19:11-22
19:11-19: THE MIRCALES PERFORMED HERE: follow those performed by Christ and show that Christ lives and works through His followers: Of particular significance is the way physical objects- (handkerchiefs and aprons, v. 12)- become instruments of grace when touched by people of great faith: That God works wonders both through His saints and through created objects shows that creation itself is being renewed- (For other examples of objects bestowing grace, see Acts 5:15-notes; see Numbers 21:8; and 4Kg 13:20-21; Mark 6:12-13; Luke 8:41-48; and John 9:6-7):
A GREEK GODDESS DEFENDED
ACTS 19:23-41
19:26: BEING DYNAMIC AND VITAL: The Church has an impact on every culture in which it exists, bringing both conversion and opposition: See, how Paul, a man with no wealth or even political power-status, influenced ALMOST ALL OF ASIA by his simple proclamation of the gospel: God's Might Hands were upon Paul no doubt about that-His Will got accomplished!!!
19:27: THE TEMPLE OF...DIANA-(GREEK-Artemis): goddess of the hunt, was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world because of its size and exquisite beauty: In the center of the temple was a statue of Diana, which the people there believed Zeus had sent down from heaven-(see v. 35):
19:29: GAIUS: from Asia Minor- (Acts 20:4) is perhaps the same person mentioned in Romans 16:23 and also 1 Corinthians 1:14, ARISTARCHUS is a Thessalonian- (Acts 20:4; Colossians 4:10):
19:33-34: ALEXANDER, WHO WAS A JEW: attempted to prevent the Jews from associating with the Christians and to turn the anger of the crowds against them!!!
19:37: APOSTOLIC PREACHING: does not blaspheme other people's gods-Instead, as simply as possible, it presents the message of salvation through Jesus Christ!!!
Closing with ACTS 19:4: Then Paul said, "John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus..."
"Go to a quiet a room and shut the door and repent for everything be humble and merciful-change your life unattached yourselves from the pit and be one with Christ made new, a new creation...Live a life Christ and sin no more, meaning changing our thoughts, minds, actions and a complete 360 flip from our old lives...Living a life in Christ will shine like a bright light in all we do- whether its through our works, or through our faith-no matter what He shines in us all, plant your seed today with the Lord, He will do the rest!!!
Starting tomorrow I will close out with a Psalms-and summary!!! After tomorrows lesson we will end with Psalm Introduction and Psalm 1-Passage reading & Summary of the passage-back story!!!
